Health Canada has issued a Canada-wide recall of one lot of Seasonique birth control pills after a consumer reported missing tablets — a defect that could lead to unintended pregnancy.

The recall affects Lot 100058977 (DIN 02346176), which expires in May 2026 and is distributed by Teva Canada Ltd. The affected product comes in 2×91-day extended-cycle tablet dispensers, containing 84 light blue-green pills (levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol) followed by 7 yellow pills (ethinyl estradiol only).

The complaint involved two missing active pills — the light blue-green tablets critical to pregnancy prevention. Skipping these can reduce the product’s effectiveness and cause spotting, irregular bleeding, or unplanned pregnancy.

What to do if you’re affected:

  • Do not stop taking Seasonique or skip any doses.
  • If your pack is missing pills, return it to your pharmacy for a replacement or alternative product.
