The number of Canadians staying within the country for their vacations is at an all-time high

According to a report from Airbnb, vacation properties that utilize the service welcomed a record 9 million guests in 2024 alone.

A record 40 per cent increase compared to just a few years ago in 2019.

Ontario currently holds the top spot compared to other corners of the great white north, with data showing that Ontario welcomed over 3 million domestic guest arrivals in 2024, including over 2 million guests from within the province itself.

As for why Canada, and by extension, Ontario, are seeing such a sudden surge in domestic travel interest, Airbnb representatives have indicated that it is likely due to the fact that even five years later, post-pandemic travel attitudes continue to reign supreme.
