A small boat believed to be carrying migrants capsized early Monday in high surf off San Diego’s Pacific coast and left three people dead and four injured, while U.S. Coast Guard crews were searching for nine others, officials said.

Waymo is looking to expand and will be investing in the East Valley to do it. The self-driving car service company announced on its blog on Monday that it’s teaming up with Magna, a Canadian auto parts supplier, to build a factory in Mesa.

Before going to class, students at Mesquite, Highland and Desert Ridge high schools in the East Valley had to walk through weapons detectors on Monday. Gilbert Public Schools said it’s the latest way officials are increasing security. All high schools in the district will have the detectors before the end of the school year. Casey Torres reports.
