LLOYDS and Halifax have issued an update after mobile and online banking went down for thousands of customers.

Both banks were suffering an outage earlier today with over 2,000 customers experiencing issues, according to Downdetector.

Around 60% of Halifax customer complaints related to problems with mobile banking and 30% with online banking.

Meanwhile, around 67% of Lloyds Bank complaints related to customers having issues with online banking and 32% with logging in via mobiles.

The vast majority of customers reporting issues were based in London, Manchester, Cardiff and Birmingham.

However, Lloyds Banking Group, which owns both Halifax and Lloyds Bank, has said the outage was a planned test that lasted just a few minutes and has now been halted.

Despite this, fuming customers posted on X, formerly Twitter, raging at the mock outage.
