One in custody, one at large after assault rifle found in Ontario hotel room [Video]

An Ajax woman is in custody and her roommate is on the loose after an assault rifle was discovered in a casino hotel room in Pickering.

Pickering Casino Hotel staff called police Sunday afternoon to report a M4A1 carbine with a fully loaded magazine was found in a room at the hotel.

Two suspects who were guests of the hotel were identified and Durham Police’s West Division Criminal Investigative Branch executed a Criminal Code search warrant just after midnight that night. A M4A1 carbine, a prohibited weapon in Canada, and a fully loaded magazine were seized.

Kenya Chambers, 21, was arrested without incident while a man remains outstanding. A warrant is being sought for his arrest.

Chambers has been charged with four weapons offences. She was held for a bail hearing.
