You can go fishing for free on these dates in Ontario [Video]

Canadian residents are able to go fishing for free across Ontario this upcoming weekend.

The Ontario government said that in honour of Mother’s Day, which is on Sunday, fishing will be free on May 10 and 11.

It marks the second of four free fishing opportunities in Ontario this year.

The first was over the Family Day long weekend.

The next two will be over the Father’s Day weekend (June 14 to 15) and during family fishing week, which is from June 28 to July 6.

Those looking to participate must carry provincial or federal ID showing their name and date of birth.

Additionally, all other fishing regulations still apply, the province said.

“Outside of free fishing periods, most people between the ages of 18 and 64 must have an Outdoors Card and a licence to fish,” the government said.

“All veterans and active Canadian Armed Forces members residing in Ontario can enjoy free recreational fishing in the province, whenever and wherever fishing is allowed.”
