88-year-old dead after e-bike struck by two vehicles in Ontario town [Video]

An 88-year-old man died in a Toronto hospital Thursday thirteen days after the enclosed e-bike he was driving was struck by two vehicles in north Whitby.

Durham Police responded to a collision involving the e-bike, a Jeep Wrangler and a Hyundai Veloster at Lakeridge Road and Taunton Road during the morning of May 2.

An enclosed single rider e-bike was southbound on Lakeridge Road it was struck by the Jeep, which was also travelling south. The impact caused the e-bike to cross the centre line where it was then struck by a northbound Hyundai.

The operator of the e-bike was taken to a trauma centre in Toronto with life-threatening injuries. No other parties reported physical injuries.

The operator of the e-bike died in hospital on May 15 as a result of his injuries.

The Durham Police Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene and the roadway was closed for several hours …
