SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Chiefs end their 40th season with a 4-1 series loss to the Medicine Hat Tigers, falling 4-2 in Game 5 to end their 2024-25 campaign.
The Tigers win the WHL title, and they advance to the 2025 Memorial Cup in Rimouski, Quebec.
Neither the Chiefs or Tigers could find a goal in the first period, then Niilopekka Muhonen opened his playoff goal scoring with a strike in the second, followed by a Gavin McKenna goal, his first postseason score in Spokane after missing Games 3 and 4 with injury.
Hunter St. Martin scored Medicine Hat’s third, then Andrew Cristall and Assanali Sarkenov replied for the Chiefs to bring the deficit back to one.
Bryce Pickford’s 13 playoff goal, a record eight-straight games by a defenseman, rattled the back of the empty net late in the third period.
