MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – FedEx announced new leadership for FedEx Freight, which is set to split into a separate company soon.

The shipping giant announced in December that it is splitting FedEx Freight into its own, publicly-created company.

John A. Smith is set to serve as president and CEO of FedEx Freight, while R. Brand Martin will serve as chairman of the board.

Smith is currently chief operating officer of FedEx U.S. and Canada, while Martin serves as vice chairman of the FedEx Corp. board of directors.

The two will assume their new roles upon the split of FedEx and FedEx Freight, which is now planned for June 2026.

“I cannot think of two individuals with more knowledge of, or commitment to, the long-term success of the FedEx Freight business than John Smith and Brad Martin,” said Raj Subramaniam, president and CEO of FedEx Corp. “Together they have the track record and expertise to successfully lead this new and exciting chapter for the independent FedEx Freight company.”
