A RIDE program conducted by Durham Police over the Victoria Day long weekend led to the arrest of one driver on impaired charges.

Seven more impaired drivers were taken off the roadways by officers on routine patrol, however.

Nearly 400 vehicles were stopped during the two-hour blitz, with 10 tests given and though just one driver was popped for impaired, that one offender, along with the seven other drivers charged with impaired over the weekend, was deemed “unacceptable” by the Durham Regional Police Service.

“Please don’t drive impaired.”
