SGA, who has led the 68-win Thunder team to the Western Conference Finals, has the franchise’s first MVP since 2017 when Russell Westbrook won the award.
Shai is also the second Canadian in league history to become the MVP alongside Steve Nash who won the award in back to back seasons in 2005 and 2006.
During the 2024-2025 regular season, SGA became the first player since Michael Jordan to average at least 30 points on 50% shooting, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1 block per game.
The 26-year-old star beat out MVP finalists Nikola Jokić and Giannis Antetokounmpo for the award.
