Guilty plea in child abduction case could mean 10 years in prison for Brampton man [Video]

A Brampton realtor could be facing up to 10 years in prison after abducting a 9-year-old boy from an Ontario town almost two years ago.

Manoj Govindbalunikam of Brampton pleaded guilty on Wednesday to the 2023 abduction that police described as “bizarre” by the OPP, according to multiple reports.

The now 37-year-old realtor from Brampton was charged with abduction of a person under 14 after luring a young boy who was fishing near a river in the small town of Thessalon, approximately 90 kilometres southeast of Sault Ste. Marie.

Police said a man driving a yellow 2011 Chevrolet Camaro offered the child a toy “as a way to entice him into the car” and took off with the child inside.
