The Van Buren Port of Entry will be closed to all vehicle traffic on June 9, 10, and 11, but it will remain open to pedestrians.

Construction on du Pont Street in St. Leonard will prevent vehicular entry and exit at the Van Buren crossing until 10 p.m. on June 11, 2025.

However, officials said the port would remain open to pedestrians and public inquiries.

Once the road reopens, passenger vehicle access will resume immediately, but commercial truck traffic will remain restricted for another three to five days, depending on roadway stabilization.

Officials advise travelers to reroute through alternative border crossings, such as the Port of Madawaska, approximately 25 miles north, or the Port of Hamlin, about 10 miles south.
