Family members of a missing truck driver from Brampton believe he has been murdered.

What started as a missing person case has been taken over by the homicide team of police in Surrey, B.C., following the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of 25-year-old Navdeep Dhaliwal.

Family members of Dhaliwal in Surrey say they have been told by police that he had been murdered, although no body has been recovered.

Officially, police say they are treating the disappearance as suspicious and have not indicated why they believe he has been murdered.

A police statement said Dhaliwal usually remained in regular contact with friends and family members and that no one has heard from him since his reported disappearance.

“He maintained regular contact with friends and family and therefore even this seemingly brief period without contact was highly unusual,” said police. “…because of evidence gathered, there are indications that Navdeep Dhaliwal’s disappearance …
