The rain that came through Durham Region Thursday, cancelling baseball games and other outdoor activities, continues Friday. As much as 20 cm of rain will fall before easing off later this afternoon.

It’s not yet time to build the ark but Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the region, both for the urban communities along Lake Ontario and the northern townships.

Rain associated with a slow-moving low-pressure system will continue to affect the area today. Rain is expected to ease from west to east this afternoon or this evening. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

For information concerning flooding consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest details.
