A three-tower apartment development could bring 1,342 new units to Mississauga.

The proposal is for a vacant, 4.7-acre piece of land at 69 and 117 John St. in Cooksville, near the GO Train station.

The landowner, 13545130 Ontario Inc., would like to build three apartment buildings with heights of 31, 30 and 20 storeys, connected by a 12-storey podium, according to a report to the May 26 Planning and Development Committee meeting.

The maximum building height permitted on this property is 25 storeys.

The development would contain 1,342 residential units and about 600-square-metres of commercial space at ground level. There is also a public park proposed for the east side of the property.

The property is bounded by John Street to the south and railway tracks (Canadian Pacific corridor) to the north.

There are several issues with the current proposal, said City of Mississauga planner Adam Lucas.
