A massive transit project is moving forward in Ontario’s biggest city.

Today, the province announced that it has broken ground on the Ontario Line’s Queen Station. Located under the existing TTC station at Queen and Yonge, the new station will be part of a brand new 15.6-kilometre subway line that will run from Exhibition Place in the west end, through Toronto’s downtown core, to the Line 5 Eglinton at Don Mills Road. 

Once complete, the line will feature 15 new stations, including multiple stops in the east end (Moss Park Station, Corktown Station, East Harbour Station, Riverside-Leslieville Station, Gerrard Station, Pape Station, to name a few). 

With crews set to excavate more than 100,000 cubic metres of dirt and rock, the new platform at Queen Station will be built 40 metres below street level. In a news release, the province said it will be the busiest stop on the new …
