May 30 weather: Thunderstorms and showers in southern Ontario [Video]

There’s a chance of showers and a risk of thunderstorms in the forecast for the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario.

Environment Canada says Friday is expected to start off sunny with a mix of clouds across the GTA, with fog patches expected to dissipate by the afternoon.

There’s a 30 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon in Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton and Oshawa, and a 40 per cent chance in the Niagara Falls area.

The daytime high is expected to be around 24 C but will feel more like 26 C with the humidex in Mississauga, the weather agency says.

Into the evening, there’s a chance of more showers and a risk of thunderstorms across southern Ontario.

Winds are expected to blow around 30 km/h, gusting up to 50 km/h near midnight.

The overnight low is expected to be around 12 C.
