A single-vehicle collision on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory has sent two people to hospital, with the passenger taken to a trauma centre in Kingston with “life-altering” injuries.

OPP said the vehicle left the roadway Thursday morning and rolled over on Highway 49, north of Lower Slash Road. The driver was taken to local hospital for treatment while the woman passenger was transported to the regional trauma centre.

Highway 49 was closed in the area for several hours to allow for the on-scene investigation and re-opened Thursday evening. The investigation by the Tyendinaga Police Service is continuing with assistance from the L&A County OPP and OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement officers.
