Police searching for knife-wielding man after attack on residential path in Ontario city [Video]

Durham Police are searching for a knife-wielding man who they say attempted to stab two people who were walking in a residential neighbourhood in north Oshawa Sunday night.

Officers responded to an armed person call near Steeplechase Street and Windfields Farm Drive at 10:30 p.m. Saturday. The suspect was seen walking west on Danztore Path when he approached two people walking in the opposite direction. As they passed each other, police say, the man pulled out a knife and tried to stab one of them.

The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.  Numerous police units, including K9, were quickly on the scene but were unable to find the man.

No physical injuries were reported.

The motive remains under investigation, and what led to the incident is still unknown.  Anyone with video footage from this area is asked to come forward.
