Two motorcyclists killed Wednesday as tragedies in Ontario mount [Video]

The 49-year-old man killed after losing control of his bike and crashing into a ditch in Courtice on Wednesday is the latest tragedy to occur this season, the second death on Wednesday and the third motorcycle-related death in southern Ontario in the past two weeks.

Durham Police say the rider was travelling south on Trulls Road, north of Bloor Street, just before 5 p.m. when he lost control and went into the ditch.

He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The collision is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact D/Cst. Vander Duim of the Traffic Services Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5227.

Also on Wednesday a 34-year-old Welland man was killed in Niagara Region.

On Monday a motorcyclist died in Essex County.
