A man randomly punched two people in an Ontario city last weekend before smashing the glass door of a restaurant and assaulting an officer, police say.

Windsor police said that shortly after 11 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a report of an assault at a convenience store in the 300 block of Ouellette Avenue, which is in Windsor’s city centre.

A man had entered the business, then pushed and punched two customers “without provocation,” police said.

“The suspect and the victims were not known to each other,” officers said.

“The suspect fled the scene and ran to a nearby restaurant on Chatham Street East, where video surveillance captured him kicking the front door several times until the glass shattered.”

Police said they got a description of a suspect, who was found a short distance away.
