E-scooter rider killed crossing highway on-ramp in Ontario city [Video]

An e-scooter rider struck by an SUV while crossing the on-ramp lane at Liverpool Road in Pickering on June 4 has died.

Whitby OPP were called to a collision on Highway 401 westbound on-ramp from southbound Liverpool Road last Wednesday afternoon involving the SUV and a e-scooter that was crossing the on-ramp lane.

The rider, a 21-year-old from Pickering, was transported to a Toronto trauma centre with serious injuries. He died from his injuries on Monday.

The driver of the SUV remained on scene and no other injuries were reported.

The Whitby OPP is continuing to investigate the collision and is asking witnesses or those with dash camera footage to contact the Whitby OPP at (905) 668-3388.
