New exhibit at Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum centers history of the Ute People [Video]

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A new exhibit centering the history and culture of the Ute People in the Pikes Peak region is opening at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum (CSPM).

Until Forever Comes: This is Ute Homeland was created in partnership with the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, and Ute Indian Tribe of Uintah and Ouray Reservation.

Officials said the exhibit was also made possible through public and private donations, including lead contributors Lyda Hill Philanthropies, City of Colorado Springs LART, and Thomas and Alberta Meagher Legacy Fund.

A celebration of the new exhibit will be at CSPM on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be an Opening Honor Song & Royalty Introductions near the gazebo on the south side of the museum grounds at 10 a.m.

Games that allow participants to test their knowledge of Ute History & Culture will be in the Division I Courtroom at 11 a.m
