This Morning’s broadcast was interrupted by “terrible” breaking news following a plane crash in India on Thursday (June 12).

During the programme, presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard delivered the tragic news that an Air India flight destined for London had crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad in western India.

Onboard were 169 Indian citizens, 53 Britons, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese, as confirmed by Air India.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner issued a mayday call post-takeoff, but failed to maintain communication with air traffic control.

Flight Radar data indicates that the signal vanished seconds after the plane ascended to 625 feet. The crash site is reported to be within a residential vicinity close to the airport, reports Wales Online.
