ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – How low can it go? Apparently VERY low! The coldest temperature in Alaska on Thursday went to Fort Yukon with a temperature of 49 degrees below zero; with the extreme cold, advisories are out for the Fortymile Country and Eastern Tanana Valley and into the northern Panhandle as well.
High pressure is holding a wintry grip over mainland Alaska, but its grip will weaken next week. Low-pressure systems in the Pacific will finally make inroads to southern coasts by the weekend. An influx of moisture will come in with the front, along with warming temperatures.
