It can’t be easy being Chrystia Freeland these days. It’s February, a particularly cold one, and she’s dragging herself all over the country — including to an audience with the Star’s editorial board on Monday morning — in pursuit of the Liberal leadership.

The pundits, rightly or wrongly, have already written her off. Mark Carney’s pockets are bulging with endorsements from Liberal heavyweights and the previously comatose Liberals are suddenly showing life in the polls on the assumption that he’s a shoo-in for the top job.
