AEC searching for regional workers as ‘record’ voters expected in federal election [Video]

The Australian Electoral Commission is searching for workers in rural and regional areas to help with federal election efforts.

Locals in parts of Northern Territory, regional Queensland and Western Australia, and remote communities across South Australia and New South Wales are being urged to apply to work for the AEC.

No prior experience is needed with tasks including counting votes, helping at the polling booths and administrative and logistical roles.

The AEC says voting enrolment figures are reaching record numbers. 

“With more people than ever enrolled to vote across the country, we’re upping the ante on our recruitment to ensure everyone has the opportunity to vote,” AEC Commissioner Jeff Pope.
