Family daycare providers affiliated with the Confédération des syndicats nationaux (CSN) reached an agreement in principle with the Ministère de la Famille on Sunday.

The agreement will be presented to the unions at a federal council of the RSGEs next Friday. Members will then be able to vote at general meetings to be held in the coming weeks.

“Until then, the details of the agreement will remain confidential and no comments will be made,” said the Fédération de la santé et des services sociaux (FSSS-CSN) in a news release.

The agreement in principle with the FSSS covers nearly a quarter of the RSGEs.

If accepted, the new five-year contract (2023-2028) “will make it possible to increase the number of spaces, encourage the care of infants (under 18) and improve the attraction and retention of educational childcare providers in a family setting,” said Treasury Board Chair Sonia LeBel in a news …
