LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Air Canada confirmed a flight traveling from Las Vegas to Toronto was diverted mid flight.

According to officials, on April 16, the flight deck crew on Air Canada Rouge flight 1702 reported a smoke like odor, which caused the plane to make emergency landing in Des Moines, Iowa.

The decision was made out of abundance of caution after the odor was detected.

“The A321 aircraft landed normally and as per standard procedure, was immediately evaluated after landing by airport response teams, and then cleared to taxi to the gate,” said Air Canada officials.

176 passengers will transfer to another aircraft and resume their journey. The flight is estimated to land around 2 a.m.

You can check the flights status on Air Canada’s website.
