Air quality statement issued in Mississauga amid wildfire smoke across Ontario [Video]

Smoke from wildfires burning in other parts of Canada has prompted Environment Canada to issue air quality warnings or statements for much of Ontario.

The agency placed parts of northern Ontario under an air quality warning on Thursday afternoon as wildfires scorch Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.

A special air quality statement has been issued for Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto, Oshawa and Hamilton, with wildfire smoke expected over the area tonight into Friday morning.

“As smoke levels increase, health risks increase. Limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events,” Environment Canada says.
