With summer tourism right around the corner, the Alaska Native Heritage Center in Anchorage is getting ready to welcome visitors — and they’re looking for a few helping hands from the community.
As the Center prepares to open its doors to tourists on Mother’s Day, leaders are putting out a call for traditional drummers.
The team is searching for individuals 14 and older with some drumming experience who can perform cultural songs and dances — and just as importantly, help share the stories behind them.
“Our community is here to educate. The Center is here to educate visitors from all over the globe and to preserve and strengthen our culture,” explained Cultural Programs Manager Michelle Trefon.
The goal is to bring Alaska Native traditions to life for visitors, helping to preserve cultural heritage while creating meaningful connections with those who come to learn.
Anyone interested in becoming part of the team is encouraged to reach out to the Alaska Native Heritage Center …
