Anchorage hosts Native Youth Olympics, celebrating Indigenous traditions | Homepage [Video]

A competition highlighting indigenous cultures and traditions is about to kick off in Anchorage.

Your Alaska Link stopped by the Alaska Airlines Center where tents were being set up for the Native Youth Olympic Games.

In the senior statewide games, students in grades 7 to 12 will compete in events like the Alaskan high kick, the seal hop and even the Eskimo stick pull.

A big purpose of the games is to promote an appreciation of Alaska Native traditions.

The games will begin Thursday and continue through Saturday at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage.
