Annual Spirit of Nations Powwow returns this weekend [Video]

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT) – The annual Spirit of Nations Powwow returns Saturday, March 29, at Jefferson County High School.

The event is a celebration of Native American culture, featuring games, songs, food and more.

The event is put on by East Tennessee’s Indian Creek Productions, President Mark Finchum said the event has even more to celebrate this year.

“The Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers are on their way from Massachusetts as we speak so that’s something special this year, as well as competition dancing,” said Finchumn.

Mark’s wife Sherry was a former kindergarten teacher and said having kids learn about Native American culture is vital.

“We have lots of kids activities for kids to get hands on experiences and learn the right way,” said Sherry

It all gets started Saturday, March 29 at Jefferson County High School from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
