Above-normal temperatures are forecast to continue Monday in Omaha before a storm system arrives to push Manitoba wildfire smoke eastward. 

“It is going to be hot on Monday with the (high) temperature right around 90 or 91 degrees,” Clint Aegerter, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Valley, said Sunday. “A cold front moving in late Monday night will bring storm chances on Tuesday with areas northwest of Omaha, up around Norfolk, most likely to have severe weather.” 

The Douglas County Health Department has issued an air-quality alert due to the influx of wildfire smoke, with ozone levels reaching unhealthy levels for sensitive groups. The weather service reported that visibility of just 5 miles was common early Sunday north of the Platte River with Neligh, Nebraska, reporting a visibility of 2 miles at 4:40 a.m.
