Nineteen public daycares (CPE) were affected by a one-day strike on Wednesday.
The workers involved are members of the Syndicat québécois des employés de service (SQEES) and, for the first time, also of the United Steelworkers union.
Both are FTQ-affiliated unions.
This is the SQEES’s third strike day, as its 500 members in 16 CPEs had already walked off the job on Dec. 4 and 11.
The USW’s unionized female workers are on strike for the first time.
The dispute is mainly about wages.
The SQEES reported on Wednesday that it had held two negotiation meetings with Quebec City last week, without a new wage offer being presented.
It is therefore disappointed.
