It may be a damp start to the weekend across southern Ontario, but temperatures will warm up as the rain clears.

Those hoping to catch Saturday’s 6:25 a.m. sunrise might be disappointed as the view will likely be obstructed by clouds.

Mississauga, Brampton, Halton, Hamilton and Durham will face a risk of a thunderstorm early in the day, with showers expected to taper off by late morning. A 40 per cent chance of lingering rain remains in the forecast through the afternoon, along with strong winds gusting up to 50 km/h.

Daytime highs will soar to 20 C in Mississauga, Brampton, Halton and Durham, while Hamilton will top out at 19 C.

The UV index will reach a moderate 5, and Environment Canada advises wearing sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat if you’re outdoors between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
