It could be a stormy day across the Greater Toronto Area and southern Ontario with thunderstorms and up to 50 mm of rainfall in the forecast.

Environment Canada has issued rainfall warnings stretching from Toronto down to Windsor saying to expect between 30 mm to 50 mm of rain starting on Wednesday.

The weather agency says heavy rain is on the way and some areas could see rainfall higher than 50 mm as thunderstorms sweep across the province.

The daytime high will be around 5 C but will feel more like -7 C in the morning.

Southwestern Ontario will be hit first before the storm moves into the Golden Horseshoe area on Wednesday afternoon, the agency says.

There’s also a chance of freezing rain throughout the day on Wednesday in Mississauga, Brampton, Toronto and Hamilton.
