Arabi man jumps into lake after stealing SUV on Northshore [Video]

The suspect, identified as Keith Hebert of Arabi, was pulled from the water and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

SLIDELL, La. — A 36-year-old Arabi man was arrested Monday morning after allegedly stealing a vehicle from a Slidell-area home and then jumping off the Twin Spans into Lake Pontchartrain in an attempt to escape authorities, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said a resident on North Summerfield Loop near Slidell called 911 after seeing a masked man steal her 2018 GMC Yukon from her driveway. STPSO patrol deputies quickly located the stolen SUV near Oak Harbor and Interstate 10.

Using a remote disabling feature on the vehicle, deputies were able to stop the Yukon on the Twin Spans. At that point, the suspect, later identified as Keith Hebert, jumped into Lake Pontchartrain.

Members of the STPSO Marine Division responded and pulled Hebert from the water. …
