B.C. landslide: Home ‘displaced,’ 2 unaccounted for [Video]

The residents of one home impacted by a landslide near Lions Bay, B.C., on Saturday are unaccounted for, according to authorities.

Squamish RCMP provided an update Sunday, saying first responders and a specialized search and rescue crew are on scene.

According to the mayor of Lions Bay, the home was “displaced,” and a search is underway for two people who may have been home at the time of the slide.

“Several residents were evacuated as a precaution, and efforts to rescue others whose access has been cut off by the slide are ongoing,” Ken Berry wrote in a statement.

The response to the slide includes a number of local and provincial agencies, he added, thanking

“We extend our deepest gratitude to all first responders and supporting agencies for their dedication and professionalism during this challenging time. The safety of our community remains our top priority,” Berry wrote.
