Brampton is going to stop doing business with American companies.

In response to the sweeping tariffs that will be imposed on all Canadian goods entering the U.S. market, Brampton says American companies will no longer be eligible to bid on procurement.

This means the bidding process to supply goods and services such as equipment, consulting, construction, and any other business relationship will only be made available to Canadian operations.

“At time when our economy is under threat, when jobs are at stake, we need to opt in for Canada,” said Mayor Patrick Brown at a morning press conference. “It’s a team Canada approach. It doesn’t matter what level of government, it doesn’t matter what partisan affiliation, we all need to work together because it is our country’s economy at stake.”

American companies that produced goods in Canada will not be affected.
