Bathurst Street and Wellington Street West reopened after gas leak at a construction site [Video]

Roads have reopened after a gas leak led to the closure of a major downtown artery throughout the morning rush hour on Thursday.

Bathurst Street was previously closed in both directions between King and Front Streets from about 7:40 a.m. to just before 11 a.m.

Police previously said that the closure was related to a gas leak at a construction site at Bathurst Street and Wellington Street West.

All workers were asked to leave the site while the issue was addressed, police said.

The gas leak came amid another major road closure in the city after a garbage truck down overhead wires at King Street and Spadina Avenue earlier this week.

King Street is still blocked off in both directions between Brant and Charlotte streets and Spadina Avenue is closed from Front to Adelaide streets.

The TTC has told CP24 that the intersection is expected to reopen on Friday night.
