A bear skull stolen from a wildlife awareness festival in Bowmanville Saturday is back where it belongs following a warning that “clear video footage” of the theft would be posted online if the artifact was not returned.
Nearly 500 people shared the post of the stolen skull, used for educational programming by Soper Creek Wildlife Rescue, which has been rescuing and rehabilitating sick, injured, abandoned and orphaned wildlife at its 15-acre compound north of Bowmanville since 2017.
The skull, which was on display Saturday at the WILD 4 Wildlife Environmental Awareness Festival at the Garnett Rickard Recreation Complex, was taken at approximately 5:30 p.m. Saturday, prompting the post on Facebook for its return.
“We have clear video footage of the individual inside the exhibit hall taking the item, as well as their license plate, vehicle make and model as he was followed outside. Police have been notified,” the post declared. …
