Police are turning to the public for help as they try to figure out who stole a transport truck from Guelph before leaving it in Mississauga.
Guelph Police said the large truck was taken this past Friday morning from a parking lot on Southgate Drive. The owner of the 2022 Volvo Aero reported it stolen a short time later.
The transport truck was subsequently tracked via GPS to an address in Mississauga, some 70 kilometres southeast of Guelph, where it was recovered on Sunday afternoon, police said in a news release.
Anyone with information is asked to call Guelph Police at 519-824-1212, ext. 7557, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
Guelph Police, meanwhile, encourage residents to take steps to protect themselves from auto theft.
Auto theft prevention tips include:
- parking indoors when possible or in well-lit areas
- ensuring vehicle doors and windows are closed and locked
- using anti-theft devices to prevent vehicles from being started or steered
