HONOLULU (Island News) — Quiksilver, Billabong and Volcom stores across the U.S. are on the verge of permanently closing after the operator Liberated Brands filed for bankruptcy this year.

Michael Mondin, visiting Hawaii from British Columbia told Island News, “It’s a great product. I know my grandchildren have them too. You can’t go wrong with it, so it is disappointing they’re closing.”

The surf and skate brands Quicksilver, Billabong and Volcom announced the closure of its stores in the U.S. which will make waves with many in Hawaii who wear the beloved brands.

The company reportedly submitted a motion to the U.S. bankruptcy court to the District of Delaware for the closure of 124 stores as part of bankruptcy proceedings.

Closings are set to happen in Hawaii, including stores at Ala Moana Center and other local locations.
