The body found inside a burned-out limousine in a Whitby hotel parking lot last week has been identified.

A post-mortem examination found no signs of foul play, and it is believed that 46-year-old Jason Webber died as a result of the fire, police said.

Fire crews responded to a limo on fire in the Holiday Inn Express parking lot on Consumers Drive Thursday morning, just before 9 a.m., and contacted police after discovering a body inside.

The Office of the Fire Marshal and the Coroner arrived on scene to conduct an investigation and were able to identify the body.

Efforts to determine the cause, origin, and circumstances in the fatal fire remain ongoing.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Brazil of the Central West Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2221.
