A Vermont state senator has identified the U.S. Border Patrol agent who was shot and killed in the line of duty Monday afternoon in Coventry.Essex County Sen. Russ Ingalls said the agent who died was David Maland, who was assigned to the Border Patrol’s Swanton Sector.House Committee on Homeland Security Chairman Mark E. Green, MD (R-TN) issued a statement on Tuesday about Maland, praising him for nearly a decade of service in protecting the country’s border.A spokesperson with U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed to WPTZ, WMTW’s sister station in Burlington, that another person was killed during the incident.
