Bourbon sales could be impacted by retaliatory tariffs, local distillery says [Video]

SWISHER, Iowa (KCRG) – Monday night, 25% tariffs went into place on Canadian and Mexican goods. Now both countries are retaliating against the US.

Canada is implementing 25% tariffs on $155 billion of US goods, which will remain in place until the US withdraws its tariffs. Mexico’s President says she’ll also announce retaliatory tariffs this weekend.

Prices could eventually change for items because of these tariffs… including alcohol prices. A local distillery worries about retaliatory tariffs from Canada.

The CEO of Cedar Ridge Distillery says his industry is being used as what he described as collateral damage in these tariff disputes– specifically when it comes to bourbon.

Bourbon can only come from the U.S. the same way Champagne can only come from a certain region of France. It gets shipped out to other countries all over the globe.
