A prestigious high school basketball tournament is underway at the Bedford Road Collegiate in Saskatoon.
The Bedford Road Invitational Tournament, more commonly known as BRIT, is a longstanding Saskatoon tradition – dating back to 1968.
“Throughout the years it has become the biggest tournament in Western Canada. We get all the biggest teams and it’s a big tournament to really show who’s the best,” said Lukas Novosel, a basketball player with the Bedford Road Collegiate senior boys’ team.
The 55th BRIT is hosting teams from Saskatoon and Regina, along with teams from B.C., Alberta, Manitoba, and Quebec. In previous years, the tournament even hosted teams from New York and Australia.
Emma Lynn Grabowski, a BRIT student host, said it’s something she looks forward to all-year-round.
