Work on tearing down the upstairs apartments destroyed by the fire that ravaged a portion of historic downtown Bowmanville Wednesday night is continuing with the block at the centre of the blaze expected to be completely demolished.
Work crews and the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office are still assessing structural damage to the building but one business located downstairs from the source of the fire is already preparing for the worst.
“The day we’ve been dreading has finally arrived. We’ve received information that the building will likely be completely demolished,” said Talk of the Town in a statement. “It’s a heartbreaking, devastating, and surreal moment for many of us. It’s crazy how, in just seconds, your whole life can change. I think we’re all still in shock, trying to figure out how to move forward.”
